Betty has selected transparent watercolor as the medium that best expresses and communicates her interpretation of a variety of subjects. She is a versatile and innovative painter whose style varies from realistic to impressionistic to complement her subject. Betty combines the versatility of watercolor with a talent for precision drawing. Her paintings reflect proper perspective and design as well as interpretive freedom.
In her career Betty has exhibited the broad range of possibilities open to those who master the medium of watercolor. Her nostalgic paintings and interpretive works of the Southwest hang in numerous private and corporate collections. In recent years, her historically accurate and wonderfully detailed paintings of railroad subjects have received considerable acclaim, appearing as covers and feature articles in publications that appeal to railroad aficionados across the USA.
Betty is a Signature Member of the Texas Watercolor Society (Purple Sage Brush), the Georgia Watercolor Society and the West Texas Watercolor Society. She is an elected Fellow in the American Artist Professional League of New York. She has an art degree from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and has studied individually with numerous nationally know watercolorists.
